The Appleby Floods 2015
In December 2015 Appleby-in-Westmorland was hit by a devastating flood
in the wake of Storm Desmond. Town flood defences were
overwhelmed by the sheer volume of water. Whilst never having
been
flooded in the past,
Tufton Cottage did experience upto 2ft of
water in the
downstairs level. Work
started
quickly to get the practice running again, and operations moved
upstairs while renovations progressed on the lower
level.
In April 2016 we fully
reopened the practice and were delighted to welcome patients into the fully renovated main surgery
and reception area. We took the opportunity to convert this
into
a modern and
fully
CQC compliant area, which
is the perfect space for working, whilst still keeping the welcoming
feel of our
old setup. Flood resilience measures have been put in place
as part of the renovation.
Work is underway to
continue the transformation in the upstairs area, achieving this around
our patients and dental clinics to
make
Tufton Cottage Dental Practice an inviting place for you and your
family.
We all would like to
thank everyone who helped get the practice back up and running as
quickly as they did, and also our
patients, whose patience and attitude through this trying time was
invaluable.
